First things to do when planning your wedding

February 28th, 2009 by Wedding Professor

Alright, so your boyfriend has finally popped the big question and you more than willingly said “YES!!”. So now all you need to do is pick a date and start hiring vendors…right? Not so fast….to start out planning your wedding, you should have at least 2-3 dates in mind. Once you have picked these dates, the first people you need to talk to are your venues for your ceremony and reception. These two vendors will ultimately determine your wedding day. There is no point in being set on a date if either of these places are unavailable, so book these two places first. The next vendors you need to book are your music (d.j. or live band) photographer and videographer (and yes, I strongly recommend a videographer). The reason why you need to book these vendors next is because they can only be at one wedding at one time. If they are already filming another wedding on your wedding day, you are S.O.L. whereas other vendors like invitations and flowers can provide for more than one wedding on one day. So book these three vendors right away because nothing is worse than coming across a vendor that you really want and not be able to book them for your special day!!

Stay tuned for more articles on how to find the right vendors!

Wedding Planning Made Easy

February 15th, 2009 by Wedding Professor

The wedding day is likely to be the most important day in a woman’s life - at least up until that moment. Don’t forget that it is important - sometimes equally so - to the man and even the family of the bride and groom. So you will want to ensure that things go smoothly and without too many hitches. On this day, families unite and drive a path that was not previously a responsibility. Getting off to a good start is always something to aim for.

On this day, the wedding day, there will be many guests who will celebrate with the couple and show their support in their union. After the wedding, the couple will go on their honeymoon and then strive to live in peace and harmony. It can be a match made in heaven and the journey is just beginning on that special day. A wedding ideally comes once in a lifetime so everything must be planned well so the wedding will be perfect, or as near perfect as it can possibly be. There will always be something to worry about!

Planning a wedding is not a thing that can be done right out of the blue. Preparations for it can be as long as 6-12 months depending on the circumstances. Sometimes longer. This is the reason why it takes people so long to get married. Or ideally, that’s how it’s supposed to be - there are still quick and spontaneous marriages that not only go without a hitch but also have longevity of partnership built in.

Getting married is no easy matter and usually costs a lot of money. People who wish to get married have to at least have a livelihood to pay for it and take care of their household in the future - or a rich benefactor that can help. The first thing to consider when making plans for your wedding is obviously the budget for it. All the other things that follow thereafter can be fitted around the budget decisions. In line with this, you have to decide who your guests will be. It would be nice if you could invite everyone you know. However, if your finances cannot permit it, it’s best for only those closest to you to join in the ceremony.

February 15th, 2009 by Wedding Professor

You will certainly want to have some wedding planning tips. In fact, you should try to make sure that your wedding will go as smoothly as you plan. As a result, it is very important for you to plan for it carefully.

One thing that couples are not able to handle is getting a balance between budget and their preferences. This is probably the most important piece of wedding planning tips. You have to consider your budget whenever you are choosing your wedding items. It will certainly be very good for you if you can purchase a designer wedding dress. However, it may not be good for your wallet and you have to think carefully before you buy.

Here are some other wedding planning tips you will need to know. First of all, you will have to create a checklist for your wedding planning about a year before your big day. In fact, you should start thinking about your checklist once you have decided to get married. You will probably need to arrange a meeting with your family members and talk about your big day. Of course you do not need to have detailed planning at this stage. Yet it will be good for you to get some opinions and suggestions from your friends and family members at this stage.

You will then start thinking about your wedding date and venue. You will also need to think about the budget. As a matter of fact, you may know that you need to plan your budget before you plan for other details if you have read some wedding planning tips before.

When your budget is concerned, you have to know who will be financing the wedding. Most couples nowadays will pay for the wedding. However, your family members, especially your parents, may want to help in sponsoring your event. Again, you will need to discuss with your family members to this end. You will probably know how much you can afford at this stage.

Now, let us think about the venue. Your budget will certainly affect your choice of venue. And the size of your event will also affect your choice. A lot of articles on wedding planning tips have been stating that you will need to know the size of your event before you choose your venue. This is very true. You will need to consider your guests list so that you can have a basic idea on the size of your wedding. Be sure to ask your parents if there are some guests they would like to invite.

When you have settled your venue, you can think about your wedding theme. You theme can be affected by your wedding date. You will try to plan your event such that everything will be following the basic idea of your theme. The choice of color of your dress, invitation, favor and so on will be following your theme color. This is also very important when wedding planning tips are concerned!
